Peri Smilow to perform Sunday

The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires presents a concert by singer/songwriter Peri Smilow Sunday evening at 7:30 at the Duffin Theater at Lenox Memorial High School.

Smilow has been cited for her powerful Jewish music based on ancient texts made relevant for today's world. Rabbi David S. Wolfman, regional director for the UAHC Northeast Council, wrote that Smilow "is one of those rare Jewish singers who really makes a difference," and that she "has taken the world of Jewish music by storm; she is captivating, engaging and immediately brings everyone to feel included and uplifted."

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children in advance, $30 for adults, $20 for children at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Israel Emergency Campaign. To purchase advance tickets, call Arlene Schiff at 442-4360, ext. 12.

See 'Hollywood Pinafore' at Theater Barn



The Theater Barn presents George S. Kaufman's rarely performed "Hollywood Pinafore" today through Aug. 17.

A revised version of Gilbert & Sullivan's "H.M.S. Pinafore," the performance features Kerry Conte as the movie star and Joseph Mayon as Ralph Rackstraw, the lowly screen writer. Performances are Thursdays and Fridays at 8, Saturdays at 5 and 8:30 and Sundays at 2 and 7. The Theater Barn is located on Route 20 in New Lebanon, N.Y. Moss on art



Geoffrey Moss will share his experiences as a painter, author, set designer, syndicated political satirist and photographer on Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4, at the Lenox Gallery of Fine Art .

Moss calls himself a "journeyman artist" involved with all media. Moss stays awake every night to see his painting, "Sunrise Iceberg," part of the permanent set of the CBS Late Late Show with Craig Kilborne. His latest book of interviews and photographs, “The Biker Code: Wisdom For The Ride,” from Simon and Schuster, is now in its second printing.

Moss has received Pulitzer nominations for his conceptual Watergate drawings and 9/11 graphic commentary. His work is included in the Smithsonian exhibition, "In the Spirit of Martin," and currently in "Too Hot to Handle" at the Andy Warhol Museum. Moss was given a permanent exhibition wall at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.

Tokonoma Gallery shows new work by Richard Britell



Tokonoma Gallery presents new work by Richard Britell in, "You Slept with Her, Didn't You!" Saturday through Sept. 8. A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday from 4 to 7.

The show includes 20 new paintings accompanied by texts. The title of the show, "You Slept with Her Didn't You!" comes from the text which accompanies the painting, "Chrysler Building."

Britell says, "I have begun adding texts; they are not intended as narratives for the pictures, but rather as a record of some of the things about which I am thinking as the pictures evolve."

A different kind of book fair

A new concept for books fairs will be held in Sheffield Saturday. The show will be indoors and outdoors at the American Legion Hall on Route 7 in Sheffield. This show will mix professional antiquarian booksellers and local residents, all of whom will be selling their books to the public.

Outdoor spaces will go on sale at the American Legion Hall at 8 on Saturday morning the day of the show and will cost $25 per space. Spaces must be used to sell books. Money raised from space sales will help to support the Student Scholarship Fund at Mount Everett Regional High School.
