Anyway...

Never underestimate the importance of silliness.

"The Comedy of Errors" by William Shakespeare is a very silly play, and the current production at Shakespeare & Company does nothing to add any kind of intellectual weight to the piece. In fact, when you see two of the main characters whirling about the stage in a giant teacup -- for no apparent reason -- you might forget all about your intellect and just laugh out loud.

If you find yourself thinking, "Okay, pairs of twins, separated at birth -- but why do they have the same names?" just stop. That kind of logic is out of place and unnecessary. Just let it go and have some fun.

Director Cecil MacKinnon has created a parallel universe of color and whimsy that is a delight to observe, and those two wacky Dromios -- Dan McCleary and Tony Molina -- are just adorable.

And one of the best parts of the show is a completely illogical but happy ending with all the loose ends neatly sashed and bowed.

I took my family to see this, and we all enjoyed it so much, we are building our own giant teacups in our basement. Watch out!
