Anyway... Anyway... There is a special Web site for Berkshires Week, located, not surprisingly, at www.BerkshiresWeek.com. A colleague here at the Eagle has the ability to track the number of people who visit the Web site on a daily basis, and today he handed me a chart of the results. Tracking hits on the site from May 2003 through the end of last week produced a very interesting graph. The Fourth of July was the peak day in 2003 and again in 2004, with just over 3,000 visits last year and more than 5,500 visits this summer. The number of Internet surfers on the site nearly doubled from 2003 to 2004. Christmas was the low point, with only a few hundred hits, and not much activity until May. Memorial Day 2004 was another high point, followed by a dip and then lots of daily visitors all through the summer. After Labor Day, there is a depressing drop in the chart. I know everyone looks for great things to see and do during the summer, but I plan to produce some tempting material in the upcoming winter months, as well. But what if all that Web activity, carefully tracked and measured, is caused by someone's cat standing on the keyboard? |
